Who We Are

STEP Leeds began as a simple idea in Leeds: that older people should be able to stay independent, comfortable and secure in their own homes, and that nobody should feel left on their own as they get older.

It started as a local effort to lend a hand with the ordinary things that can become worries later in life: a friendly face to talk to, help thinking through a problem, a bit of support so that home still feels like home.

Today, STEP Leeds carries that same spirit as a free online resource. We share clear, practical, reassuring guidance on the things that help older adults stay safe and independent: making the home safer, keeping steady on your feet, staying gently active, eating and drinking well, and knowing when to ask for help.

We are not a medical service and we do not replace your doctor. What we offer is friendly, down-to-earth information you can trust, written with respect for older readers and the families who care about them.
